Soil Reinforced with Geosynthetics
Operation
We present below a simple experiment that clearly demonstrates the concept of soil reinforcement with geosynthetics.
In this experiment, we filled a wooden box with crushed stone simulating a layer of soil.

We simulated a load with the walls of the box ensuring the confinement of the experiment.

When we removed the confinement by removing the walls, we observed the spreading of the gravel and the fall of the structure.

Now we repeat the experiment, only placing geogrids in layers for reinforcement.

By applying load on the e tirar wall experiment, the structure remains intact. Geogrids perform internal confinement e maintains the design structure.

Once the structure is reinforced, we can increase the load on the experiment.
